We all long for the fun on camping out and cooking food that you scavenged or hunted over a fire that you built. In this series we will be discussing campfire cooking. We will look at recipes, tips, and some general guidance on cooking over the campfire.
The first item that we must establish is:
Flames are for broiling
Coals are for boiling!
What that means is that if you are boiling water then coals are best. If you are broiling items or grilling items, then flames are best.
Here are some foods to use flames to cook/prepare:
- Corn on the Cob
Here are some foods to use coals to cook/prepare:
- Baked Potatoes (turn occasionally)
- Boil Water
This is a very basic lesson, but very important when you are using the campfire as your stove!
Coming up next in this series, we will start to share some recipes for your try.
